Beavers Finally Get Their Due!

Just in case some of my blog readers didn’t see this N.Y.Times article this morning…email-big mamma's bottom incisors IMG_6686http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/28/science/reversing-course-on-beavers.html?emc=edit_th_20141028&nl=todaysheadlines&nlid=55091267&_r=2

And again the wheel turns. Ignore the title of this book published 1959 about experiences beginning in 1922: Three Against the Wilderness, by Eric Collins. Exactly the same idea: restore the landscape by using beavers to change water, other ecology. (And it worked.) (Mary, I can loan you a copy if you want.)

      Hi Mary

I don’t know how my name replaced the other name on above comment. I was commenting and then trying to change my gavatar but something went wrong. Just don’t want to take credit for someone else’s comment.

Good to see the value of beavers being recognized. Noticed one minor error, that beavers start their dams by felling a tree across the brook (maybe they do that occasionally, but I don’t think that’s the norm). I see another error (confusing dams with lodges) has been corrected (see note at the bottom of the article).
