Otis
For those of you who have been there for me and my family this past month, this is the little guy who most benefits from your kindness and generosity. Thank you again for your support. (We took time to smell the tansy last week.)

Otis is lucky to have you. I was about his age when at the Woods Hole child center I was first introduced to St. Johnswort, Queen Anne’s Lace, Milkweed, and the other fine flowers of September roadsides. The memory of those first discoveries is still with me over sixty years later.

Otis is absolutely the cutest. He is so lucky to have you as his Grandmother.

That is one PRECIOUS PICTURE! Thanks for sharing that with us, Mary! May this little boy thrive and succeed and find a happy life in spite of the ominous events going on at this particular time.

What a sweet little guy. And I’m glad he already knows to take time to smell the tansy — or anything else. When I was pre-school age (and younger and older), I spent many happy hours walking thru the nearby cow pasture with my grandfather, who taught me the wildflowers and birds. Later, at his house, I occupied myself with Birds to Color and Flowers to Color sets. Even tho I got otherwise preoccupied during teen and college years, all those identifications I had learned as a child bubbled to the surface like magic when I later moved to a country setting. I’m sure that will be the same for Otis with you as a doting grandmother.

That’s a wonderful photo to share, Mary! Otis is adorable! I remember the cute photo of Otis and a pumpkin. It’s awesome that Sadie’s and Otis’ lives will be less stressed, because people shared and cared. A month ago, near a playground, I showed by grand daughter (she’ll be 3 in 5 weeks) a ‘wild’ snapdragon, told her the name and showed her how to squeeze the side to open the ‘mouth.’ We don’t pick flowers…leave for others to admire and share. A few days ago, she found some flowers in her great grandparents’ yard…knew the name & asked to see ‘the tongue’…you can teach little ones so much!

What a sweet picture (in more ways than one!). I’m certain Otis has lots of guardian angels hanging out with him in & around the garden. Blessings to you all.

Hoping that all the benevolent spirits in nature surround him and protect him going forward.

What an adorable child! Thanks for sharing this beautiful image. I will save it as it reminds me of myself. My father died in WWII when I was only 6 months old, so I never missed him. But I was blessed with a wonderful mother and grandmother and had a very good life and a beautiful family. Otis reminds me of the blessings I received and I am glad I could a share some with him and his family. Heinrich

Wonderful picture. Our thoughts are with you. We have a grandson named Otis too. He’s six and loves the natural world also.

What a sweetheart! Easy to see why your heart is so full. Strength to all of you as you navigate through a new and differently shaped world. Otis and his mother must find a great deal of solace through your connection to the natural world, and I’m sure he’ll grow up with a deep appreciation thanks to your teaching, which enriches us all.

Mary, I, too am technically challenged; I am unable to navigate the arcane process of donating to Sadie and Otis’ fund. I reach road blocks in trying to contribute through the process. It is frustrating that it won’t allow me to help your daughter and grandson.
Sorry,
Jim MacNeil

So precious as is the tansy that he is admiring. To be connected with nature is to appreciate the unity of all life and the challenges that we all face as we travel our path. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones. May each find the strength to do what must be done with love and a full heart.
Warmly, Jeannie Sargent
