New Children’s Book in Animal Adaptation Series Released

e-AnimalTails (002)My latest book, ANIMAL TAILS, joins ANIMAL EYES, ANIMAL NOSES and ANIMAL LEGS as part of a children’s series I have written on animal adaptations. Readers are introduced to the many different ways animals use their tails, with two-page spreads for each of the photographs. ANIMAL TAILS is available from independent bookstores, online and from the publisher (click on cover image on my blog). This book (or possibly the whole series?) might make the perfect Christmas gift for your favorite 3 to 8 year-old!

    Mary,

This book, I’m sure, is for everyone who loves nature! I plan to buy a copy for myself and those lucky enough to have me share it with them. Keep up the awesome work!

Hi Mary, This is Amy Clapp….I’ve seen you a few times at bookstores and Otter Creek Audubon Meeting…but you might most remember me from Phoenix Books last spring when I shared with you a booklet I created with checklists for differnet animals/plants for kids to help them get to know their natural world.

I am wondering how much it would cost to have you come to my school and spend part of a day or a whole day with us….preferably with us in our forest classroom to learn more about what you do and share your knowledge–your animal adaptations series could be the focus.

I am writing a grant and would love to have you come, and also buy your series of animal adaptations as part of the grant. I work in Salisbury, Vermont.

Here is the rub–I just thought of this, and the grant is due tomorrow….. So, if you have the estimate of how much it would cost and could get it to me–that would be great!

    Thanks, Amy Clapp

    • Hi Amy,
Sorry I don’t have your email address, but hopefully you’ll see my response here. I do have an author program, in which I talk about the process of becoming an author/writer/photographer and the books I have written. We also talk about experiences I’ve had in the field, and highlights of my career. I bring along a small collection of skins/skulls/scat as well, and leave plenty of time for questions. The program itself is roughly 45 minutes (plus question time) and the fee is $250 plus $.60/mile mileage – Salisbury is roughly 114 miles roundtrip, bringing the mileage fee to $114.00) Thus, the total would be $364.00. The books are $19.95 for a hard cover, $9.95 for a paperback. Hope this helps and hope you get the grant! Mary (I no longer give programs Nov – March, but would be available to your class from April – June). This particular program is geared towards a classroom, not an auditorium.
