Naturally Curious (the book) Is Going Out Of Print

e-NatCurioCoverMedalI just wanted to let readers know that the publisher of Naturally Curious has decided to let the print version of Naturally Curious go out of print and is planning on releasing an ebook version in May. If you wish to have a hard copy of this book, now is probably the time to get one!

  1. While I’m sorry to hear it will no longer be printed, because it is so valuable, I’m thrilled that it will finally become an e-book (hopefully, Kindle). I’ve been waiting and waiting and have had your “Day by Day” on Kindle since it came out.

How sad! I know kids who have dragged their copies of the book back and forth to various VT streams, ponds, fields, and woods. It’s hard to give an ebook version to an 8yo to take frog-catching!

Gee, that’s a pity — coming from someone who appreciates having a hardcopy book.

  4. Oh no! I’m so glad I bought copies for both of the elementary school libraries I manage! Better get one for home. Thanks for your glorious work, Mary.

It is not a good idea to that your publisher is letting your book go out of print. I am a special needs teacher and reading specialist and it’s so important to acknowledge have the same learning style, which is evidence based. Going to only reading online is will make your book inaccessible to many to need to feel the book and pages and use a finger on a page where each sentence/word is located. Computer reading is only accessible for those that have the ability to read online and that will leave out all those with learning disabilities. For many, reading online triggers poor sensory reactions and can flare a current condition. I encourage your publisher to strongly consider the importance of your work and continue to make it print accessible for people of all learning disabilities.

  10. What a terrible decision. Thanks for warning us. I’ll have to decide how many I may want to give to folks in the foreseeable future…

That is very sad. I’ve given many hard copies out and that is the best way to engage kids and adults alike. Ebook will not be the same. Rebecca Weil

    • Hi Abi,
You should be able to click on the cover of Naturally Curious on the right hand side of my blog and the link should take you to the publisher, Trafalgar Square Books. Also it can be ordered from any independent bookstore if they don’t carry it, or online from Amazon, etc.

This is a beautiful book and resource. I bought it for us, my husband and I, and for my grandchildren each. The photos are gorgeous and the information fun and fascinating. It is important in print and online. Maybe easier to carry with you as you explore. But I must admit, I love the print copy.

That is really too bad. Your book is really a valuable resource and, as a printed book, of much more us than as an ebook. Maybe you could have it printed by another publisher- try Stackpole?

    • Thanks, Claire. It’s worth asking them!

Such a shame but I am so honored to have my own copy given to me by my daughter Kelly Lynch Dwyer. Love this book.
