Hearts Filled With Gratitude

5-20-18 LIlyPiper(47)

One year ago today my daughter Sadie lost Waylon– her husband, best friend and the father of her son Otis and daughter Lily Piper. In the past twelve months Sadie has showered Otis with love and has given birth to his sister, Lily Piper. Relatives, Naturally Curious readers and friends have given her their love and support but at the end of the day, Sadie has met the challenges of single-parenting by herself:  two children in diapers, the demands of a job, daycare, an active toddler, a nursing infant, meals, daily laundering, shopping, etc. While the physical tasks are daunting, she also has lived through every poignant and bittersweet holiday and birthday remembering past ones shared with Waylon. Sadie’s strength, resiliency and passion for her children’s well-being will serve as an inspiration to me for the rest of my life. I am honored to be her mother.  Thank you, dear readers, from Sadie, Otis, Lily Piper and myself for your immeasurable help during this first challenging year.

What a beautiful tribute to your daughter. A year ago my daughter received a liver transplant which began a year of worry & fright like I’ve never experienced before. Like your daughter, mine is a single mother trying to start a new career in the midst of her physical trials & has made me so proud & in awe of her strength. We are so lucky to have these amazing people in our lives! My best to you all.

🦋🌿🔆🌻🇺🇸🌻🔆🌿🦋Dear Mary… There are few positives at this time for your dear Sadie, but she is fortunate that you are her Mum … For me in a similar situation, my children’s needs fostered a positive energy and the necessity to brace up / keep moving forward… They must be so glad that you are there… Heart healing for you too… I’d hoped to send this privately… couldn’t figure out how… loving good wishes too you all… Jenny Sawyer

  45. Thank you for the update on Sadie and your grand-children. I am sure it is not always easy. I was one of 8 that my Mom raised alone as a widow, the youngest a year and a half the eldest 16. She continued to work as an artist. I know the life lessons I learned from Mom were evident even more later on in my life as an adult. They were valuable in raising my own son. Some days are better than others I am sure, but for the most part she must feel blessed to have two wonderful children who help her get through her day. All the best to Sadie and her families future. They have a wonderful Grandma to help guide them.

Thank you for your wonderful daily messages. The recent one on beavers is most interesting. I think Sally Laughlin knows of your daughter’s loss. Someone did tell me. All best- Clare Walker Leslie
