Hooded Merganser Gender I.D.
At the last minute I changed the photograph used in this morning’s post, and forgot to revise the description of their genders. The male Hooded Merganser is leading (to the left in the photo) and the less colorful female is to the right. My apologies for the confusion!
We weren’t confused! But interesting to know the reason for the mixup. The photo is beautiful.

I wasn’t the slightest bit confused, but figured somebody else was. :o)

I forgive you Mary, apparently some don’t know the boys from the girls…
Bill… :~)

How could anyone be confused with male and female here. He has the dramatic black and white head. He stands out like a king. She on the other hand is demure and petite looking with her fine hairdo looking all the part of a princess; perhaps not very queen like but still a beauty.
