I meant “beeches!”

The last sentence of this morning’s post should have read : “The diminishing number of healthy beech trees will have a significant effect on consumers of beechnuts as well as a broad array of other organisms.”  Believe it or not I proof read it several times and just didn’t catch that my fingers weren’t typing what my mind was thinking!

Thanks, Mary. I noticed it and thought someone would quickly contact you. Part of the fun of communicating…and a chance to see who is paying attention. Thanks for sharing the natural world and a neighborhood of folks who appreciate thinking about this amazing creation.

Mary, -and there is a good crop of Beech and Acorns and Apples this year!  I’m still seeing Bears eating green stuff though, one in my yard when I came home for lunch today. The baby loon is doing well, diving and catching little fish!                                                                                                Alfred  xoxo

No worries Mary… I too have a ” bumper crop ” of apples this season. The insect world is doing well too. I am not lacking in milkweed or goldenrod either. The bumblebees are feasting on the goldenrod blossoms non stop… I’ve seen monarchs just about every day this season & occasionally the monarch caterpillars too. I filled the hummer feeder for the 12th & probably last time yesterday for they will be gone 1st or 2nd week in Sept… :~(
    All the best,
    Bill… :~)
